The three-pane redesign, in nine phases
I started this week with a spec (docs: add three-pane redesign spec) and then worked through it phase by phase.
The phases
- A three-axis token architecture for theming.
- A three-pane layout shell.
- Rail 3: live stats, ambient ASCII and a theme accordion.
- Cursor:
mix-blend-mode: difference. - A data-bound, two-paragraph About with a masked line rise.
- A computed, self-ranking Stack section with a Work filter.
- and 8. An editorial work feed and a live telemetry nav.
- A playable Snake on the contribution grid.
After the phases: character images in the theme accordion panels, and the portrait tinted per character theme.
The cursor, again
The cursor is the part I reworked most. It ended up as a square difference-blend cursor. Grid snapping and the idle blink were dropped, and the blend moved to the outer wrapper so nav items invert instead of vanishing.
